The 13th Raigam Telees Award Ceremony which was held recently ended recognizing many new talents in television. Accordingly, the Best Upcoming Actor award was won by Sajitha Anuththara Anthony (Bohimiyanuwa– Swarnavahini). He is a Drama & Theater and Image Arts (Special) Degree student of the Department of Fine Arts, the University of Kelaniya. Sajitha Anuththara is the youngest son of Jackson Anthony who is a Director, singer, an award-winning actor in Sri Lankan cinema and Kumari Munasinghe who is also a singer.
Sajitha Anuththara has played the role of the hunter’s son in “Sooriya Arana” and played the title role in his father’s big-budget film ‘Aba’. He also plays the roles of stage dramas of award winning Priyankara Ratnayake’s “Premawantha Kumarayo” and Akhila Sapumal’s “Girikuta Kashyapa”.

Sajitha Anuththara is not only good at acting but also good at singing, dancing and playing musical instruments. He hopes to release his new song collection named ‘Swarnapaliye” in the near future.
Sajitha won a Certificate at this year’s State Drama Festival for his performance in “Premawantha Kumarayo”. “Gurikoota Kashyapa” also represented the State Drama Festival this year and he was nominated for the Best Actor title for his excellent performance in “Gurikoota Kashyapa”
Currently, he is engaged in training activities of Rajitha Dissanayake’s “Mata Vedi Thiyannedda” which is to be staged on the 25th of August 2017. Sajatha is an outstanding scholar who has been gifted to the Sri Lankan field of Arts by the Vidyalankara generation.

The Sarasaviya Best Emerging Actor Award at the Sarasaviya Awards Festival in 2016 was won by Ishara Wickramasinghe for his excellent performance in Rodni Vidanapathirana’s “Ira Sewaya”. Ishara is a Drama & Theater and Image Arts (Special) Degree student of the Department of Fine Arts, the University of Kelaniya. He is not only an actor but also a Script Writer, Singer, Dubbing Artist and a Voice Actor.
Since childhood he has been loving acting and has played roles in stage dramas such as Jayalath Manoratne’s “Thala Mala Pipila”, “Guru Tharuwa”, Lushan Bulathsinghala’s “Tharawo Igilethi”, Dharmasiri Bandaranayake’s “Dhawala Bheeshana, Makarakshaya”, Bandula Vithanage’s ” Romaya Ginigani 2″, Thumindu Dodanthanage’s “Arundathi”, Ackila Sapumal’s “Bacchae”, Jaya Sri Chandrajith’s ”Umathusanwarusawa”.
He has acted in long tele dramas such as Jayalath Manorathne’s “Thaththe Api Awa, Mahapolowa Api Noveyi”, D.G. Somapala’s “Sandawathaka Waruna” and also in single episode teledrama series such as K.B. Herath’s “Kurulu Paluwa”, Dayarathne Ratagerara’s “Podi Hamuduruwo” and other tele dramas such as Ranga Bandaranayake’s “Gee Ranga Sobha”, Nishshanka Diddeniya’s “Suranga Puwatha”.
Ishara Wickramasinghe works as a Dubbing Artist for Chirag’s character of “Sadahatama Oba Mage” tele drama which is telecasted on TV Derana and for Vikram’s character of “Swapna” of Sirasa TV.
He has been nominated for the Best Child Actor at the State Tele Awards Ceremony in 2004. In the year 2015, Ishara won the award for the Best Actor at the National Youth Awards ceremony for his excellent performance in Akhila Sapumal’s “Hinawela Miniththuwak”.
Ishara can be recognized as an outstanding scholar of the Vidyalankara Generation and the University of Kelaniya proudly recalls Ishara Wickramasinghe’s winning of the Sarasaviya Best Emerging Actor Award for his clever performance in his first ever film “Ira Sewaya”.
